Recent research of BC Youth indicated that gay, lesbian and bisexual teens are half as likely to play sports as straight teens.
The power to sport to change connect communities and change lives is not hitting those who can benefit hte most from the support network, community, purpose and passion that quality sport experiences can create. We need to do a better job ensuring sport is a safe place for everyone to learn and grow, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
viaSport BC has created a variety of resources to help coaches, parents, athletes and volunteers understand how to create inclusive spaces for individuals that identify with the LGBTQI2S community.
